About Mission Mukti
In the heart of every thriving city lies a profound responsibility—not merely to uphold law and order, but to extend compassion to those most vulnerable and voiceless. With this guiding principle, Nagpur City Police launched Mission Mukti—a focused, multi-agency initiative aimed at rescuing, rehabilitating, and restoring dignity to homeless and mentally ill individuals living on our streets.
Mission Mukti was conceived with a singular purpose: to make Nagpur a beggar-free and humane city through coordinated action and compassionate intervention. It reflects a vital shift in modern policing—from enforcement to engagement, from control to care.
"No one deserves to be forgotten, no matter how lost or broken they may appear."

Implementation & Key Milestones
Phase 1 – March 12, 2025
Our initial phase saw 23 individuals rescued under the Imamwada Police Station’s jurisdiction. This involved seamless collaboration with key agencies including NMC, GMC, Mental Hospital, Women & Child Welfare, and Social Welfare departments.
SOP Followed: Identification → Medical Check-up → Categorization → Rehabilitation. Real-time coordination via dedicated WhatsApp groups played a pivotal role.
Phase 2 – May 6, 2025
The focus shifted to Maharajbagh Garden, resulting in the rescue of 30 individuals—12 successfully shifted to rehabilitation centers, and 18 received critical hospital care.
A notable moment occurred during a peaceful rescue at Sitabuldi Station, involving a distressed individual found with a weapon, handled with a delicate and compassionate approach.
Technology & Community Support
Seamless coordination and meticulous tracking are crucial to our success. Our strategic use of digital platforms, combined with the invaluable support from community partners, ensures comprehensive and continuous care for every individual.
